Sorry I was a little late on this, but here is how my detox is going!
9:00 am: I wake up in the morning and since I didn't sleep well, I immediately wanted coffee. Unfortunately, this detox allows NO coffee... very sad. So I read my little instructions card that came in the pack and it said I need to drink the 5am detox packet. As I poured the little packet into a glass of cold water, I noticed that it had a fluorescent purple hue. Not super appetizing in the morning. I drank down the elixir and... it really wasn't all that bad. It reminded me of flat, sugar free grape soda; needless to say I've had worse. After the purple drank, it was smoothie time. I like smoothies so I was still optimistic at this point. We happen to have a magic bullet in the kitchen (which is surprisingly useful) and I whipped up my vanilla flavored shake. I used water and a few ice cubes to mix with the powder since I prefer my smoothies cold...apparently some people like them warm; not me. The shake actually tasted pretty good! I was expecting a sickly sweet white mixture reminiscent of a McDonalds vanilla shake, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was actually nice that it was not so sweet because I usually start off my day with something savory. At this point I felt pretty satisfied. After I sucked down the smoothie, it was time to drink the Thermo Bubbles. Basically its like one of those Emergen-c packs. It had a light pink color and is lightly carbonated. I found it pleasing and it gave me a lot of energy, enough energy in fact to go work out. My normal work out (which I will post later) was much harder than I expected. My body was a bit deprived of food because I normally eat like a pig. Yet I still managed to get my run and ab workout in and I felt pretty good.
12:00 pm: I was very much looking forward to lunch because you are allowed to have plain greens with lemon juice with a 4oz side of chicken, or some other protein. Yes! I needed some solid food. So I had a nice bright salad of arugula with a bit of salt and pepper. Since I wanted to cut back even further on my calorie count, I decided to bake the chicken. NOTE: This is the best way to bake skinless boneless chicken ever! I put three chicken breasts on a roasting pan and rubbed them in olive oil, salt and pepper. Then I covered the whole pan with tin foil, threw it in a 350 degree oven and set the time for 20minutes. Then after the timer when off, I took off the foil, burnt my finger in the process, and let the chicken bake again for 15 minutes. The result, moist tender chicken! So yummy. Lunch was pretty damn satisfying.
3:00 pm: Starving. Needed bread or anything with carbs. Instead I drank an inordinate amount of tea and water.
6:00 pm: Dinner time! Another shake...yay. I found out that I had missed a step in the morning and was supposed to add the super greens packet to the shake. So I added it to my dinner shake. It said berry flavored so I assumed it would be purple; I was so very wrong. It was moss green and smelled like plants. Hmm, not great. I put it into my shake and it turned a sickly green color. At that point I was so hungry that I drank the concoction down in seconds. The greens had a very gritty texture which made my shake taste like a crushed up berry Tums. Eeeek! I certainly learned from my mistake.
8:00 pm: I was at zombie status and my stomach was yearning for a cheeseburger! I was irritable, sleepy and my muscles ached. I feel so bad for my boyfriend who had to put up with me that night..sorry babe. Anyways I went to bed in a few hours and was looking forward to my next "meal".
